Tryouts

Club volleyball is an avenue for players ages 9–18 to pursue advanced training and competition. Players try out for teams within their respective age group and are placed based on ability and potential. Club volleyball is an excellent way to improve skills, prepare for high school competition, and gain collegiate exposure.

Our National Level Teams compete in both local and national tournaments, while our Regional Level Teams compete locally. Local tournaments typically run from early January through late April, while national-level seasons extend through late June. Nebraska Elite teams compete in events hosted by USA Volleyball, AAU, JVA, and local organizations.



Our National Level Teams are the foundation of Nebraska Elite and what we are best known for. These teams compete at USA National Qualifiers against the top competition in the country. Our top teams play at the highest competition level in USA Volleyball—OPEN. Over the past 10 years, no other club in Nebraska has qualified more teams for USA Nationals in Open than Nebraska Elite.

A check for $700 (10–14U) or $800 (15–18U) will be collected at tryouts.

Parents and players are expected to attend:

• All 10–14U (Google Meet): Wednesday, October 21, 2026 | 6:30–7:30 PM
• All 15–18U (Google Meet): Sunday, November 15, 2026 | 4:00-5:00 PM
• All Club Open House at UBT: Monday, November 16, 2026 | 6:00-8:00 PM
• All players welcome but new players encouraged.

The 18U program focuses on college readiness, recruiting, and finishing strong.

The tryout process differs from other age groups: all returning players are offered spots to play 18s, with additional roster spots available for new players.

The Regional Program is designed for families seeking a local, fixed-cost option with less travel and fewer schedule conflicts.

Highlights:

• Fixed cost (no additional fees)
• Shortened season: December 1 – April 30
• Local competition (fewer school/work conflicts)
• Twice-weekly practices
• Participation in competitive local tournaments
• 13–17U groups compete in the ASICS President’s Day Tournament

The Regional Program expands opportunities for players preparing for high school volleyball and potential scholarships. Alongside our Youth Development and National Programs, Nebraska Elite offers a pipeline to fit every family’s needs.

Is Nebraska Elite more expensive than other clubs?

No. Our pricing is comparable to other clubs in the region. However, our results consistently surpass the competition. Our success comes from a detailed, process-driven approach that combines a competitive environment with high-level skills training—ultimately providing a stronger return on your investment.

Do you allow multi-sport athletes?

Absolutely. We’ve had athletes win state titles in volleyball, basketball, track, soccer, and tennis. Past players have included a Miss Nebraska titleholder, a NASA intern, fashion models, trap shooters, and over 100 National Honor Society members.

Do you practice four days a week?

No. Our teams typically practice twice per week. Some teams may have additional practices based on needs. We also offer optional positional training that many families choose to take advantage of. All players ages 15–18 participate in Motivera workouts for injury prevention and performance enhancement. Additional training opportunities are available but not required.

What if I don't make a team?

As the largest club in the region with our own facility, we have the flexibility to add teams at tryouts. We also always have more coaches available than teams expected, giving us additional options. For players 14 and under, we offer two excellent alternatives:

• Regional Teams
• Youth Development Program

Both are designed to help players grow and potentially earn a spot on a national team in the future.

What if I don't want to be on a second team in my age group?

Our second teams have a history of outstanding success. In the past five years, they’ve finished in the top 3 at national events nine times. Our 162s team won the Colorado Crossroads Qualifier, and our 152s won the Northern Lights Qualifier. At Nebraska Elite, team numbers don’t define our athletes—daily improvement does.

What if I don't know if I'm good enough to make a team at Nebraska Elite?

You won’t know unless you try out. Why risk missing out on the opportunity to be part of one of the most successful clubs in the country? Give yourself a chance—you might surprise yourself.
